The top three hearing aid styles are the ITC, ITE, and BTE. The In-The-Canal (ITC) is custom fitted for the ear canal and appears virtually invisible. The In-The-Ear (ITE) is custom fitted for the outer portion of the ear lobe and easily adjustable. The Standard Behind-The-Ear (BTE) are a desired option that are easy to hold and remain visibly unnoticed sitting on the rim of your ear where reading glasses sit.

JAMES V. RIPPY Au.D.

Dr. James Rippy received a Master of Science degree in Audiology from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and a Doctor of Audiology degree from the University of Florida and is currently practicing Audiology at Sound Advice Hearing Doctors in Little Rock and Jacksonville.Previously,he was the director of Audiology at Arkansas Otolaryngology Center(a 17-ENT physician practice). Dr. Rippy has been dedicated to improving the quality of life for the hearing-impaired in central Arkansas for over 38 years.

As an advocate for consumer rights and protection,he was appointed by Governor Bill Clinton to the Arkansas Board of Examiners in Speech Pathology and Audiology where he served for 6 years, helping to write the hearing aid dispensing law for the state of Arkansas. Dr.Rippy served several terms as treasurer on the national board of the Academy for Dispensing Audiologists. In addition, the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association honored Dr. Rippy with the Frank R. Kleffler Clinical Career Award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to clinical science.

He is currently a member of the American Academy of Audiology’s Private Practice Committee.His professional interests are focused on clinical research including projects on many pre-FDA released hearing devices from manufacturers including Starkey, ReSound, Widex and Unitron.
